My name is Maricris Cruzat. I have been working at West Contra Costa USD since 2004 and   I have enjoyed all the opportunities given to me in the district. I taught at Hercules HS for 15 years and prior to that, I was a teacher at De Jean MS.  I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2/Trig, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. During those years at Hercules HS, I have served various roles such as a Math Department Chair, Teacher Induction Program (TIP) mentor, Trellis Community of Teacher mentor, Instructional Leader Team (ILT) liaison, School Site Council (SSC) member, and Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) advisor. 

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics.  I also hold a master’s degree in Education and have completed the academic requirements for Ph.D. in Educational Management.  My education laid the foundation for a lifetime love of learning and teaching. 

The 2019-2020 school year is my first year as a Vista Tiger, and I am so delighted to be part of the warm community. My students receive personalized instruction tailored to meet their individual needs. To fully support my students, I provide a safe and collaborative environment where they can take risks and be fully engaged in their learning.  This growth mindset approach allows my students to find their strengths and to reach their highest potential.

In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, walking, and spending time with my friends and family.
