Listen Up!
What comes next for our school? The WCCUSD is coming on Monday May 6 to hear what you have to say about leadership and the future for Pinole Valley High School. Meeting with faculty and staff at 4:00 in the library and then from 5:30-7:00 for the community, the district wants this listening session to include everything you are looking for in a site leader. Make sure you come to express yourself and help the District to make the best decision going forward into the future. The final determination will be made and then voted on by the School Board, if you have thoughts, this would be the time to bring them.

Vote for Opportunity
Decision 2024 refers to more than just what college or university choice our seniors make., This year, there is so much at stake, and the election sometimes comes down to who is voting as much as how do they vote. The Contra Costa County registrar's office is looking for a handful of teens to do election style work. Everything from being a youth ambassador to running social media pages to promote and persuade those on the fence to get off the fence and into the ballot box. Deadline next week, don't let summer start without you

Prom!
We had a great time with the class of 2024 and the kids made it a night to remember. The Senior Prom down at Scott's in Jack London Square hosted 400 upperclassmen. We crowned King, Simon Mao and Queen, Rhianna Figueroa. Both kids were part of an ensemble that dined and then danced together. We honor Ms. Wynne and the Leadership team that created such a fun vibe. We are still finding glitter in our hair

Senior Season
Wouldn't you like to get the last word? We are hosting tryouts for senior graduation speaker on May 9. We are going to have a super busy month, filled with events like Senior Prom, Senior Awards, Senior Walk out rallies and Senior Finals. All of this while high school continues its regular calendar. If you want to tell everyone what your experience was like and what it meant to you, join us in the Conference room after school and get the chance to tell the Pinole Valley community what you remember best and maybe share some words of wisdom for those who came before and those who are coming after.

Senior Softball earns the North Coast Bid
It's the day we celebrate the softball class of 2024 on the home field. The Lady Spartans defending North Coast Section champions are going to finish strong today as they host Mt. Diablo and say so long to a number of girls who helped bring the team to prominence. We are going to have some ceremony and then some hitting, we want you there for all of it, then next week it is the TCAL league playoffs followed by the senior's final act, an attempt to defend the crown.

Make Mine Music
The month ahead started with a great show with Piano Recital night in the choir room. Seven of our keyboard players put on a show for the community amongst them, an original compositon as well. This same night featured our jazz band playing at the District show in El Cerrito which leads to this week's band competition event in Folsom, then it is a bunch of peformances from choir and band, some on campus, but many are on the road, like this weekend's Choir festival in Santa Cruz and our band's championships in Folsom. Some like our Day on the Green outdoors in the city. One way or the other, look forward to music (oh, music Friday in the Quad) every week from now til year's end.

Wel;come Fire Truck!
We loved having County Fire on campus Thursday to share its crew and its awesome truck with the rest of school. We were honored to have the crew come out and answer questions about the work and the engine itself. This busy day (which ones aren't?) also had our Health Academy students travel to the Cadaver lab and check out the work that gets done and provide answers for questions. All this while Ms. Fe, our work experience director, offered students a great list of 25 jobs that can be done with only a high school diploma. Let's not forget the city of Pinole and its Youth jobs open too.
