Degrees and Certifications:

Double-major in Linguistics and Latin American and Latino Studies from UC-Santa Cruz & Teaching Credential from Sonoma State University.

Ms. Erin Calentine

My name is Erin Calentine.  I grew up in San Diego county and then moved up to Northern California as soon as I was able.  I attended UC Santa Cruz for undergrad studies; double-majoring in linguistics and Latin American and Latino studies.  I earned my teaching credential through Sonoma State University, and I hope to continue my education in the future- I want to have "Dr." in front of my name before I retire!

I have been a WCCUSD teacher since 2006.  I spent my first eight years at Kennedy, where I taught in all the core departments except science, and was the teacher sponsor for the Gay-Straight Alliance.  At Vista, I still help my students in all their subjects, plus I get to teach a College and Career Readiness class that helps students focus on skills for academic and life success. I love teaching at Vista because it is amazing to work with students who have chosen to come to our school, and who are active partners in building their own unique plans.  The mix of creativity, interesting challenges, and community here is magical.

In my free time I love to read, go to shows, cook yummy vegetarian food, spend time in nature, and travel to see friends and explore new places.
