COVID Supplemental Paid Leave (effective 3/29/2021)

On March 19, 2021, Governor Newsom signed SB 95 (COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave) to allow for COVID leaves from January 1, 2021, through September 30, 2021. There are similarities to the FFCRA COVID leaves but some differences so please review the notice carefully.  If you have already used COVID leave after January 1, 2021, this time will be deducted from the newly available leave accruals. The federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows eligible employees to take leave for their own serious health conditions, childcare, specified family members' serious health conditions, or for reasons related to a family member's military service. Each eligible employee may take up to 12 workweeks of family and medical leave in a 12-month period. The leave is unpaid but employees are required to use their sick leave. The employer would continue to make contributions toward health insurance coverage. The employee must be employed for at least 12 months and actually have worked 1,250 hours in the prior 12 month period. To apply, please click the link below.
