• Top High Schools Located 20 minutes from downtown San Francisco, WCCUSD is home to one of U.S. News and World Reports top high schools (Middle College High School), 15 Gold Ribbon schools, a 2017-2018 California Distinguished School (), five K-8 schools, the East Bay’s only Mandarin Immersion School run by a public school district (),  and 10 Spanish Dual Immersion schools.

    We reflect the diversity of the Bay with a student population of 54% Latino; 18% African American; 10% Asian; 10% White; 6% Filipino; 2% Multiracial. Families in WCCUSD speak more than 50 different languages; 34% of students are English Language Learners.

    WCCUSD is home to the first M.I.T.-sponsored Fab Lab on the West Coast, giving students a unique opportunity to create anything their minds can develop. We offer 20 college and career pathways that prepare students for college and beyond. Our Visual and Performance Art Program (VAPA) has received national recognition with the Pinole Valley High School band director being named one of the top 50 directors in the country and the jazz program at El Cerrito High School performing at venues across the globe including the world-famous Montreaux and Monterey jazz festivals.


    The WCCUSD Board of Education recently adopted , an aggressive strategic plan designed to enhance student success by focusing on employees, community, and students.

    Former Students

    There is also a history of athletic success with former student-athletes performing at the highest levels of all three major sports--NFL, NBA, and MLB.

    Alumni from the District include attorney Christopher Darden, Green Day members, Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, and Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynthia Marshall. Recent WCCUSD graduates are currently attending Yale, Stanford, Cal, UCLA, the Academy of Arts, and other prestigious universities.
