Principal's Message

Hello Obama Families,

I hope this message finds you all doing well. It is amazing that we are in our seventh week of school!

As I visit classrooms, I am so impressed with the level of engagement from students and families. This is a great opportunity for parents, guardians, and caregivers to collaborate at such a deep level in our students’ education. I want to shout out our teachers for working tirelessly to ensure students are having the most positive and beneficial distance learning opportunities.

We are giving our first round of district assessments. Last week, students in 2nd-6th grade took the Star reading test. This week, students will take the Star math test. These tests give us a baseline of where students are in their reading and math skills. They are not used to give students any type of consequence for not reaching grade level proficiency. We need the scores from this data to inform how we teach students the skills they need to keep improving. As much as we appreciate all the support families are giving students at home, please try to refrain from helping your children with the Star assessments. We have to know where they are on their own so that we can offer them the precise instruction that they need to move forward.

Our Virtual Grand Opening for the new Michelle Obama Campus is scheduled for Thursday, October 29th at 11:00 am. All instruction will pause at that time so that students, families, and staff can watch the grand opening. You will receive more 豆奶成人直播 in the next few weeks.

I will be holding a community meeting this Wednesday at 5:00 pm. A Zoom link will be posted on Wednesday morning.

Feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Have a great week!
